Removing fuel from the fuel tank (Range Rover 3)

Please read the section carefully before disconnecting the battery "Disconnecting the battery" and follow all the instructions there.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Performing a procedure

1. Open the filler hatch, unscrew the filler cap.

WARNING: Fuel vapors are highly flammable, and in an enclosed area they are also toxic and explosive. There must be a fire extinguisher in the room where fuel is removed from the fuel tank (foam, carbon dioxide, gas or powder).

2. Connect "mass" wire of the device for removing fuel from the fuel tank to "mass" car.

WARNING: Never drain fuel from a vehicle's fuel tank while it is in an inspection ditch. Draining or removing fuel from the fuel tank should only be done in well ventilated areas.

3. Prepare the suction hose of the device for removing fuel from the fuel tank, insert it into the filler neck of the fuel tank, bend the hose slightly if necessary. Cut off the end of the suction hose at an angle of approximately 30°to the longitudinal axis to facilitate the passage of the hose.

4. Put on an exhaust pipe a hose for a suction of exhaust gases.

5. Start the engine.

6. Using a tool, pump fuel from the fuel tank into a hermetically sealed container. For detailed instructions on how to use the tool, see the user manual for the tool.

7. At the moment when the visual indicator of the remaining fuel lights up, turn off the engine.

CAUTION: Do not operate the fuel pump without fuel in the tank.

8. Disconnect "mass" battery wire.

9. Remove the plug of the left inspection hole of the fuel tank.

ENGINE FUEL SUPPLY Td6, Fuel filter, LH fuel tank inspection port.

10. Remove the suction hose from the filler neck and replace the plug.



11. Push the suction hose into the left inspection hole of the fuel tank and remove the remaining fuel (in the figure the hose is in position 1). With the position of the hose shown as number 2 in the figure, repeat the operation to remove residual fuel.

12. Remove the suction hose from the fuel tank, disconnect "mass" fixture wire from the car body.

Filling the fuel tank

1. Reinstall the cover of the left inspection hole of the fuel tank.

FUEL SUPPLY OF Td6 ENGINE, REPAIR WORK, LH fuel tank inspection hole.

2. Fill the fuel tank with the required amount of fuel.

3. Connect "mass" battery wire.

4. Turn the ignition key to position 1 and hold it in this position for the time required to fill the fuel pump.

5. Start the engine.

6. Switch off the engine and remove a hose for a suction of exhaust gases.
