Dismantling
1. Remove the upper front covers of the timing gear drive.
V8 Engine, ENGINE OVERHAUL, Top Timing Cover.
2. Take out a forward epiploon of a cranked shaft.
V8 engine, ENGINE OVERHAUL, Front crankshaft oil seal.
3. Turn away 2 bolts of fastening of a tensioner of a belt of a drive of hinged units to the bottom cover of the gas distribution mechanism.
4. Remove the dirt cover from the belt roller and unscrew the Torx bolt securing the belt roller.
5. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner.
6. Turn away 2 bolts of fastening of a natyazhitel of a belt of a drive of the central air compressor.
7. Turn away the remained bolt of fastening of a tensioner of a belt of a drive of the air-conditioning compressor.
8. Turn away a nut and disconnect a cable of the storage battery from the generator.
9. Disconnect the battery cable from the lower timing cover.
10. Turn away 6 bolts of fastening of the generator and a clip of a generator plait.
11. Remove the alternator from the lower timing cover.
12. Dispose of the generator o-ring.
13. Turn away 2 bolts and 1 nut of fastening of the pump of the hydraulic booster and take the pump aside.
14. Turn away 6 bolts of the pump of system of cooling.
15. While holding the coolant hoses, remove the coolant pump and discard the pump O-rings.
Disassembly
1. Remove the 6 bolts securing the lower timing cover to the top of the oil pan.
2. Turn away 15 bolts of fastening of the bottom cover of a drive of GRM to the block of cylinders.
NOTE: Mark the position of all bolts as they are of different lengths.
- A = M8 X 75 mm
- H = M6 X 40 mm
- C = M6 X 85 mm
- D = M6 X 80 mm
- E = M8 X 90 mm
- F = M6 X 60 mm
3. Remove the lower front timing cover.
4. Dispose of the 3 lower timing cover gaskets.
Examination
1. Wipe the timing cover and mating surface, pins and pin sockets.
Assembly
1. Apply STC 50550 sealant to the places indicated in the figure.
2. Install 3 new gaskets for the lower timing cover.
3. Install the lower front timing cover.
4. Screw in 15 bolts securing the lower timing cover to the cylinder block and pre-tighten them to 5 Nm.
5. Tighten the M6 bolts securing the bottom cover to 10 Nm, and the M8 bolts to 22 Nm.
CAUTION: After tightening all bolts, check their torque.
6. Screw in 6 bolts securing the lower timing cover to the upper part of the oil pan and tighten them with a torque of 12 N «m.
Assembly
1. Lubricate new O-rings and fit them into the grooves on the pump casing.
2. Wipe down the coolant pump and mating surfaces.
3. Install a new gasket on the cooling system pump, install the pump on the engine, screw in the bolts and tighten them to a torque of 10 Nm.
4. Install the power steering pump in place and tighten the mounting screws and mounting nut. Tighten the pump mounting screws to a torque of 10 Nm, and the fastening nut to a torque of 25 Nm.
5. Clean the mating surfaces of the generator and timing gear covers.
6. Lubricate the new O-ring and install it on the generator.
7. Install the generator and tighten the mounting bolts.
8. Attach the battery cable to the lower timing cover.
9. Connect the battery cable to the generator and tighten the nut to 13 Nm.
10. Reinstall the A/C compressor drive belt tensioner, secure it with the bolt but do not tighten it yet.
11. Install the 2 A/C compressor drive belt tensioner bolts to the top of the oil pan, but do not tighten yet.
12. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner, screw in the parasitic roller mounting bolt and tighten it.
13. Place a dust cap on the parasitic tensioner roller.
14. Screw in the 2 bolts securing the accessory belt tensioner to the lower timing cover, but do not tighten them yet.
15. Establish a forward epiploon of a cranked shaft.

16. Establish the top forward covers of a drive of the mechanism gas distribution.
