Oil pump (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all the requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling

1. Put the car on a lift.

2. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.

3. Remove the upper part of the oil pan.

V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Oil pan gasket.

4. Turn away a nut of fastening of an asterisk of the oil pump and remove an asterisk.



5. Turn away 2 nuts and 1 bolt of fastening of the oil pump and remove the oil pump.

6. Dispose of the O-rings of the oil pump and oil line.

Assembly

1. Wipe the mating surfaces of the oil pump and oil line, install new O-rings, lubricating them with clean engine oil.


2. Install the oil pump on the 2 oil lines and on the engine, screw and tighten the 2 nuts securing the oil pump to the engine.

3. Put the chain on the oil pump sprocket and the sprocket with chain on the oil pump.

4. Screw and tighten the nut securing the sprocket to the oil pump.



5. Using an Allen socket adjusting bolt, adjust the chain tension so that the sag is between 8 and 12 mm.

NOTE: Adjustment of the oil pump drive chain is made by turning the socket head bolt, which is accessed through the hole for the oil pump mounting bolt.

6. Screw in and tighten the oil pump-to-engine bolt.

7. Install the top of the oil pan.

8. Attach "negative" battery terminal.
