Laying of the engine oil cooling heat exchanger (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all the precautions prescribed for this procedure have been taken.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Removing

1. Disconnect "negative" battery wire.



2. Release the vacuum hose on the left engine support from the three clamps.

3. Turn away a nut of fastening of the left support of the engine to a basic arm.

4. Place a support under the left side of the engine tray.



5. Turn away 3 bolts of fastening of the left basic arm to the engine and remove an arm.

6. Drain the engine coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: Td6, ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE, Coolant drain, system flush and fill.

7. Turn away a collar and disconnect a hose of the heat exchanger from a tube of system of cooling.


8. Remove the clamp and hose from the heat exchanger.

ATTENTION: Before disconnecting or removing engine components, the places immediately adjacent to the mating surfaces or connectors must be cleaned of dirt. To prevent contamination, place plugs on exposed connectors.

9. Drain the engine oil and remove the filter element from the oil filter housing.

10. Install a container to catch spilled liquids.



11. Turn away 5 bolts of fastening of the heat exchanger to a head of the oil filter.

12. Remove and discard gasket between heat exchanger and oil filter head.

Installation

1. Wipe the mating surfaces on the heat exchanger and on the oil filter head.

2. Install a new gasket on the heat exchanger.

3. Install the heat exchanger on the oil filter head and tighten the bolts. Tightening torque 22 Nm.

4. Push the hose onto the heat exchanger and secure it with a clamp.

5. Attach a hose to a tube of system of cooling and fix it with a collar.

6. Install support bracket and tighten new bolts. Tightening torque 20 Nm with 90°turn.


7. Screw the nut securing the engine support bracket to the support and tighten it. Tightening torque 100 Nm.

8. Remove support from under the engine.

9. Fix a vacuum hose in collars.

10. Fill the engine with oil.

MAINTENANCE, SERVICE OPERATIONS, Engine oil and oil filter - Td6 engine.

11. Fill the engine with coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: Td6, ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE, Coolant drain, system flush and fill.

12. Attach "negative" wire to the battery.
