Coolant pump gasket (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all the requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling

1. Put the car on a lift.

2. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.

3. Remove the thermostat.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Thermostat.

4. Remove the viscous fan.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Viscous fan clutch.

5. Remove the accessory drive belt.

ENGINE START AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Attachment drive belt - V8 engine.

6. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose from the engine cooling system pump and from the generator.



7. Turn away a bolt of fastening of the collar supporting a hose of system of afterburning (SAI), from the cooling system pump.




8. Turn away a bolt of fastening of a hose of system (SAI) to the left cylinder head.



9. Turn away a bolt of fastening of a hose of system (SAI) to the right cylinder head.

10. Remove system hoses (SAI) from the cylinder heads and move them aside. Dispose of the o-rings.



11. While holding the cooling system pump pulley with LRT-12-215, loosen the 4 pulley mounting bolts.


12. Turn away 4 bolts of fastening of a pulley of the pump of the cooling system and remove a pulley.



13. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connector.



14. Turn away 6 bolts of fastening of the pump of system of cooling and remove the pump.

NOTE: When removing the pump, do not allow the tubing to be disconnected from the distribution pipe. If the tubes become disconnected from the distributor, the O-rings must be replaced.

15. Remove 2 O-rings from coolant pump and discard.

16. Wipe the places where the gasket should be installed.

NOTE: If disassembly was carried out only to provide access to other elements of the system, then further disassembly operations should not be performed.

17. Turn out the gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid and utilize a sealing washer.

Assembly

1. Put a new sealing washer on the coolant temperature sensor, screw it in and tighten it with a torque of 14 Nm.

2. Lubricate new O-rings and fit them into the grooves on the pump casing.

3. Install the coolant pump with a new gasket on the engine. Tighten the bolts. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

4. Attach a socket of the gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid.

5. Wipe the mating surfaces of the pump pulley and coolant pump flange. Install the pulley and hand tighten the mounting bolts.

6. Hold the cooling pump pulley with LRT-12-215 and tighten the 4 pulley mounting bolts. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

7. Lubricate new O-rings and install them on the afterburner tube. Establish a tube of system of afterburning and tighten bolts of fastening. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

8. Connect the cooling system hoses to the system pump and to the generator.

9. Install the accessory drive belt.

10. Install thermostat.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Thermostat.

11. Install the viscous fan.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Viscous fan clutch.

12. Attach "negative" battery terminal.
