Removal and installation of the thermostat (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all the requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling

1. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.

2. Drain the engine coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: Td6, ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE, Coolant drain, system flush and fill.

3. Remove a noise-insulating casing of the engine.

ENGINE TD6, REPAIR WORKS, Soundproofing engine cover.

4. Remove the turbocharger intake air hose.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT Td6:, REPAIRS, Turbocharger intake duct.

5. Remove the heat exchanger of the exhaust gas bypass system (EGR).

EMISSION REDUCTION SYSTEMS - Td6, REPAIRS, EGR cooler (EGR).

6. Turn away 2 bolts of fastening of the heat-shielding screen and pipes of system of bypass of the fulfilled gases (EGR) to the exhaust manifold.

7. Pull the heat shield completely away from the tube flange (EGR).

8. Remove the tube of the exhaust gas bypass system (EGR).

9. Turn away 2 bolts of fastening of a distributive pipe of the cooling system.

10. Turn away a collar and disconnect a distributive tube from the thermostat case.

11. Turn away a collar and disconnect the bottom hose of a radiator from the thermostat case.

12. Turn away 4 bolts and remove the case of the thermostat from the pump of system of cooling. Dispose of the gasket.

Assembly

1. Clean thermostat housing and mating surfaces.

2. Reinstall the thermostat housing, tighten the mounting bolts and tighten them to a torque of 8 Nm.

3. Connect the lower radiator hose and secure it with a clamp.

4. Install the distribution pipe of the cooling system and secure it with a clamp.

5. Screw in bolts of fastening of a distributive tube and tighten them. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

6. Wipe the tube of the exhaust gas bypass system (EGR) and mating surface.

7. Install the exhaust gas bypass pipe, heat shield, screw in the Torx bolts, but do not tighten yet. The bolts are tightened after the exhaust gas bypass heat exchanger has been installed. Tightening torque 25 Nm.

8. Install the exhaust gas bypass heat exchanger (EGR).
