Coolant temperature sensor (ECT) (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all the requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

Dismantling

1. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.



2. Disconnect the block from the coolant temperature sensor.

3. Install a container under the sensor to collect the escaping coolant.



4. Using a tall socket, carefully unscrew the coolant temperature sensor (ECT) and discard the gasket.

Assembly

1. Wipe the mating surfaces of the sensor (ECT) and cooling pump.

2. Put on the coolant temperature sensor (ECT) new sealing washer, screw it in and tighten to 15 Nm.

3. Connect the block to the coolant temperature sensor (ECT).

4. Remove the container from under the engine.

5. Dispose of the coolant and wipe the container.

6. Attach "negative" battery terminal.

7. Check the level of working fluid in the cooling system and top up if necessary.

8. If a new sensor has been installed, reconfigure the control system using the TestBook/T4.
