Coolant temperature sensor (ECT) (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all the requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling

1. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.

2. Drain the coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: Td6, ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE, Coolant drain, system flush and fill.

3. Remove the intake manifold gaskets.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: Td6 engine, REPAIRS, Intake manifold gaskets.

4. Disconnect the block from the coolant temperature sensor.

5. Using a tall socket, carefully unscrew the coolant temperature sensor (ECT) and discard the gasket.

Assembly

1. Wipe the mating surfaces of the sensor (ECT) and cylinder heads.

2. Put on the coolant temperature sensor (ECT) new sealing washer, screw it in and tighten to 15 Nm.

3. Connect the block to the coolant temperature sensor (ECT).

4. Install the intake manifold gaskets.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: Td6 engine, REPAIRS, Intake manifold gaskets.

5. Attach "negative" battery terminal.

6. Fill the cooling system with coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: Td6, ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE, Coolant drain, system flush and fill.

7. If a new sensor has been installed, reconfigure the control system using the TestBook/T4.
