Gear selector shaft seal (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all the requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling

1. Put the car on a lift.

2. Disconnect the negative plug from the storage battery.



3. Turn away a nut of fastening of the selector lever to a shaft of the selector of a transmission and release the selector lever.



4. Turn out two screws of fastening of a guard of the lock switch and remove a guard.



5. Turn out two screws of fastening of the switch of blocking to a transmission and remove the switch from a shaft of the gear selector.




6. Install tool LRT-44-033/2 on the seal face and connect tool LRT-44-033/1 to LRT-44-033/2. Tighten LRT-44-033/1 and remove the selector shaft seal.

Assembly

1. Wipe the selector shaft and seal groove.



2. Install a new seal using tool LRT-44-030/3.

3. Clean the lockout switch and transmission mating surface.

4. Install the interlock switch, tighten the 2 screws securing the switch and tighten them with a torque of 10 Nm.

5. Install the interlock switch shield, tighten the 2 screws securing the switch shield and tighten them with a torque of 10 Nm.

6. Establish the selector lever on a selector shaft, wrap a nut of fastening of a shaft of the selector and tighten it with the moment of 10 Нм.

7. Connect the negative terminal to the battery.
