Rear gearbox seal (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling

1. Remove the transfer case.

TRANSFER BOX, REPAIRS, Transfer case - V8.

2. Remove the 4 Torx screws securing the back cover and remove the back cover.

3. Remove the bearing.

4. Carefully remove and discard the O-ring.

Assembly

1. Clean crankcase and mating surfaces.



2. Install a new seal using tool LRT-44-029.

3. Lubricate the new O-ring and install it in the cap.

4. Lubricate and install the bearing.

5. Install the cover assembly on the gearbox housing and tighten the Torx type screws with a torque of 10 Nm.

6. Install the transfer case.
