Assembling the gear selector lever and cable (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling

1. Put the car on a lift.

2. Set the selector lever to position "R".

3. Remove the central console.

4. Remove the retainer securing the shift cable sheath to the gear selector mechanism.

5. Loosen and remove the latch securing the internal shift cable to the selector mechanism, remove the plastic spacer from the cable.



6. Loosen the nut securing the cable to the selector lever and remove the selector cable from the bracket.

7. Remove the cable with guide sleeve through the floor panel under the carpet.

Assembly

1. Pull cable through floor panel, install guide bushing and carpet.

2. Install the selector cable in the bracket and the selector lever and secure the selector cable in the bracket.

3. Tighten the cable nut to the selector lever with a torque of 15 Nm.

4. Pull the cable to the selector mechanism, install the distance sleeve, secure the cable with clamps.

5. Reinstall the center console.
