Dismantling
1. Put the car on a lift.
2. Disconnect the negative plug from the storage battery.
3. Remove the viscous coupling with the fan.
COOLING SYSTEM: Td6, REPAIR WORK, Viscous fan clutch.
4. Disconnect the transfer case and automatic transmission ventilation hoses from the retainer on the left side of the engine.
5. Remove the starter.
SYSTEM OF STARTING THE ENGINE AND CHARGING THE BATTERY, REPAIR WORKS, Starter - engine Td6.
6. Turn out two top screws like Torx fastenings of a case of automatic transmission.
7. Raise the car on a lift.
8. Remove the rear driveshaft.
DRIVE SHAFTS, REPAIR WORKS, Cardan shaft - rear.
9. Remove the front propeller shaft.
DRIVE SHAFTS, REPAIR WORKS, Cardan shaft - front.
10. Drain the working fluid from the automatic transmission crankcase.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - GM 5L40-E, ADJUSTMENTS, Automatic transmission fluid - drain and fill.
11. Using tool LRT-44-028, support the automatic transmission on a jack.
12. Remove the bolt and nut connecting the transmission support assembly to the cross frame.
13. Turn out 6 screws of fastening of a cross frame and remove a cross frame.
14. Remove the silent blocks from the support.
15. Lower the gearbox on the jack.
WARNING: Do not let the transmission hang on the selector cable.
16. Remove the block from the connector of the transfer case shift drive assembly.
17. Disconnect the block from the connector of the automatic transmission.
18. Turn away a nut of fastening of the selector lever to a shaft of the selector of a transmission and remove the selector lever.
19. Turn out two screws of a lath of fastening of a cable of the selector to a transmission and fix a cable aside.
20. Remove the plug from the torque converter housing to gain access to the torque converter mounting screws.
21. Use LRT-12-212 to rotate the crankshaft and remove the three screws securing the torque converter to the crankshaft drive flange.
22. Turn out the screw of fastening of an intermediate plate to an automatic transmission case.
23. Turn out the screw and remove a clip of pipelines of a cooler of working liquid of automatic transmission.
24. Remove both cooler lines, remove and discard o-rings, and set lines aside.
25. Turn out 2 Torx screws fastening a plate to a case of an automatic transmission and remove a plate.
26. Turn out four screws like Torx fastenings of a case of the hydrotransformer.
27. With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the automatic transmission assembly from the engine. The torque converter must remain with the automatic transmission.
28. Install the torque converter fixing plate and secure it with screws.
Assembly
1. Clean all mating surfaces.
2. Remove the torque converter fixing plate.
3. With the help of a second person, carefully install the automatic transmission assembly onto the engine. Ensure that the centering parts of the torque converter and the automatic transmission case match.
4. Install and tighten the 4 Torx screws securing the automatic transmission
to the engine. Tighten the M12 screws with a torque of 72 Nm, and the M8 screws with a torque of 25 Nm.
5. Install the plate on the gearbox housing and tighten the Torx screws to 25 Nm.
6. Wipe the places where the sealing wheels of the cooler pipelines and the mating surface of the crankcase are installed.
7. Install new O-rings on the cooler lines and lubricate them with automatic transmission fluid.
8. Install the cooler pipes on the gearbox housing, install the clamp and tighten the screw with a torque of 25 Nm.
9. Screw in the screw securing the intermediate plate to the gearbox housing and tighten it with a torque of 10 N•.
10. Wrap screws of fastening of the hydrotransformer to a leading flange and tighten them with the moment of 45 Нм.
11. Install the plug on the converter housing.
12. Establish a level of fastening of a cable of the selector on a case of a transmission, wrap screws and tighten them with the moment of 10 Н·м.
13. Install the selector lever on the selector shaft, tighten the nut and tighten it with a torque of 10 Nm.
14. Attach a block to a socket of an automatic transmission.
15. Attach the block to the connector of the transfer case shift drive assembly.
16. Jack up the gearbox.
17. Install the silent blocks on the support.
18. Connect the cross frame to the support, install the bolt and nut, but do not fully tighten them.
19. Establish a cross frame, wrap screws of fastening and tighten them with the moment of 68 Нм.
20. Remove the jack from under the gearbox.
21. Tighten the nut and bolt securing the support to the transverse frame with a torque of 100 Nm.
22. Install the rear driveshaft.
DRIVE SHAFTS, REPAIR WORKS, Cardan shaft - rear.
23. Reinstall the front propeller shaft.
DRIVE SHAFTS, REPAIR WORKS, Cardan shaft - front.
24. Lower the car.
25. Wrap the two upper Torx type screws securing the automatic transmission housing and tighten them with a torque of 72 Nm.
26. Reinstall the starter.
SYSTEM OF STARTING THE ENGINE AND CHARGING THE BATTERY, REPAIR WORKS, Starter - engine Td6.
27. Fasten the ventilation hoses of the crankcases of the automatic transmission and transfer case in the clamps.
28. Install the viscous fan clutch.
COOLING SYSTEM: Td6, REPAIR WORK, Viscous fan clutch.
29. Connect the negative terminal to the battery.
30. Fill in working liquid in automatic transmission.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - GM 5L40-E, ADJUSTMENTS, Automatic transmission fluid - drain and fill.
