Assembling the gear selector lever and cable (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling

1. Set the selector lever to position "R".

2. Remove the center console.

CAR INTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORKS, Center console.

3. Remove the retainer securing the outer shift cable to the gear selector mechanism.

4. Loosen and remove the latch that secures the internal shift cable to the selector mechanism, remove the plastic spacers from the cable.

5. Raise the vehicle on a lift.



6. Remove the retainer securing the selector cable to the gearbox bracket.

7. Loosen the cable retainer nut and release the cable.

8. Lower the lift.

9. Remove the cable with guide sleeve through the floor panel under the carpet.

Assembly

1. Pull cable through floor panel, install guide bushing and carpet.

2. Raise the car on a lift.

3. Pull the cable through the gearbox bracket, enter it into the locking device, install the lock and tighten the nut with a torque of 15 Nm.

4. Lower the lift.

5. Pull the cable to the selector mechanism, install the distance sleeve, secure the cable with clamps.

6. Reinstall the center console.
