WARNING: Bench tests should not be carried out at speeds higher than 5 km/h. If only the wheels of one axle of the car are installed on the drum stand, disconnect the cardan shaft from the transfer case leading to the wheels that are NOT on the running drums.
Examination
1. Check the correct operation of the ignition switch and engine start; leave the engine running.
2. With the vehicle stationary, turn the steering wheel from one end to the other. Check for smooth steering and check for abnormal noise from the power steering pump or drive belt.
3. Check the correct operation of all vehicle systems.
4. Check for unusual sound from the engine, transmission or suspension.
5. Check the operation of the brake system.
6. Check up smoothness of a gear change of an automatic box.
7. Check engine efficiency.
8. Check the operation of all instruments, indicators and signaling devices.
9. If possible, check the operation of the retarder system (HDC) when moving downhill. If this requires a large distance to be covered, then this check should be omitted.
10. After bench and road tests are completed, carry out a final inspection of the vehicle by raising it on a lift.
11. Check the level of all oils, antifreeze and working fluids and top up if necessary.
12. Drum stand for 2 wheels of a car: Make sure that the driveshaft is connected to the axle, the wheels of which are on the running drums.
