V8 engine starter (Range Rover 3)

Please read the section carefully before disconnecting the battery "Disconnecting the battery" and follow all the instructions there.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Removing

1. Place the car on a lift.

2. Disconnect "mass" battery wire.

3. Remove the air tube.

HEATING AND VENTILATION, REPAIR WORKS, Air intake box.

4. Remove the terminal cover, unscrew the nut and disconnect the 2 wires from the terminal.

5. Remove the right exhaust manifold.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: V-8 engine, REPAIRS, Gasket (gaskets) right exhaust manifold.

6. Turn away 2 bolts and remove a heat-shielding screen.

7. Turn away 2 bolts and release a starter.

8. Position the starter so that you have access to the electrical connectors.

9. Remove the nut and disconnect the battery cable from the starter.

10. Turn away 2 nuts and disconnect the remained wires from a starter.

11. Disconnect the starter breather tube.

12. Remove the starter.

Installation

1. Clear a starter and interfaced surfaces of a dirt. Clean the drive pin and pin hole.

2. Attach the starter breather tube.

3. Position the starter, connect the wires to the starter and tighten the nuts that secure the wires to the starter with a torque of 6 Nm.

4. Connect the battery cable to the starter and tighten the fastening nut with a torque of 15 Nm.

5. Install the starter, tighten the 2 bolts and tighten them to 47 Nm.

6. Install the heat shield, tighten the 2 bolts and tighten the shield fastening bolts with a torque of 10 Nm.

7. Install the right exhaust manifold.
