V8 engine generator (Range Rover 3)

Please read the section carefully before disconnecting the battery "Disconnecting the battery" and follow all the instructions there.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Removing

1. Place the car on a lift.

2. Disconnect "mass" battery wire.

3. Drain the liquid from the engine cooling system.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Coolant drain, system flush and fill.

4. Remove the viscous fan clutch.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Viscous fan clutch.

5. Remove the implement drive belt tensioner.

ENGINE START AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Tensioner - Attachment drive belt - V8 engine.

6. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose from the radiator.

7. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose from the engine cooling system pump and generator housing.

8. Move the hose to the side.

9. Disconnect the tube from the fuel vapor filter purge valve, release the valve from the bracket and move it aside.

10. Disconnect the clamp from the battery cable, which is located on the cover of the gas distribution mechanism.

11. Disconnect block from the generator.

12. Turn away a nut and disconnect a cable of the storage battery from the generator.

13. Release a plait of wires from a collar located on the generator.

14. Turn away 6 bolts of fastening of the generator, remove a collar of a plait of wires and remove the generator. Discard the alternator o-ring.

Installation

1. Clean the mating surfaces of the generator and timing gear covers.

2. Lubricate the new O-ring and install it on the generator.

3. Install the generator in the housing, wrap the generator fastening bolts and tighten them with a torque of 13 Nm.

4. Attach a wire of the storage battery to the generator and tighten a nut with the moment of 13 Нм.

5. Fix the wire to the battery and in the mount located on the cover of the gas distribution mechanism.

6. Connect the block to the generator connector.

7. Secure the generator harness with the clamp located on the generator.

8. Replace the fuel vapor filter purge valve and connect the tubing to the valve.

9. Connect the upper radiator hose to the coolant pump and generator housing. Tighten the clamps.

10. Connect the top hose to the radiator and secure with a clamp.

11. Install the implement drive belt tensioner.
