Attachment Belt Tensioner V8 (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all the requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Removing

1. Disconnect "mass" battery wire.

2. Remove the fan guard.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Viscous fan clutch.

3. Loosen the 2 belt tensioner bolts.



4. With a 17 mm wrench, fully turn the tensioner in order to relieve tension in the belt. Rotate the tensioner clockwise.



5. While holding the tensioner in the retracted position, tighten the tensioner mounting bolt.




6. Remove the belt from the idler pulley.



7. Turn away a nut of fastening of a tensioner to an adjusting arm.

8. Turn away 2 bolts of fastening of a tensioner of a belt of a drive of the hinged equipment to the bottom cover of the timing mechanism.

9. Remove the dirt cover from the belt roller and unscrew the Torx bolt securing the belt roller.

10. Remove the attachment drive belt tensioner.

11. Remove the bolt and tensioner from the bracket.

12. Separate the tensioner from the adjusting bracket.

Installation

1. Install the tensioner on the adjusting bracket, screw on the nut without fully tightening it.

2. Install the tensioner on the roller bracket and tighten the bolt.


3. Install the tensioner pulley and mount to the timing cover and tighten the bolt.

4. Install the dirt cover on the tensioner pulley.



5. Install the tensioner on the top cover of the timing gears, tighten the 2 bolts and do not fully tighten them.



6. Using a 17 mm wrench, turn the belt tensioner clockwise until it stops.



7. While holding the tensioner in the position corresponding to the tensioned belt, tighten the mounting bolt.


8. Install the implement drive belt over all pulleys except for the idler pulley.



9. Slide the implement drive belt over the idler pulley. Make sure that the implement drive belt is in contact with all rollers.



10. Loosen the tensioner bolt until the tensioner is free.



11. Using a 17mm wrench, turn counterclockwise to fully rotate the tensioner to tension the belt.




12. Holding the tensioner in the state corresponding to the tensioned belt, tighten the tensioner bolt with a torque of 30 Nm.

13. Tighten the nut securing the tensioner to the adjusting bracket.

14. Install the fan guard.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Viscous fan clutch.

15. Attach "mass" battery wire.
