Rubber bushing of main gear support (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling

1. Raise the car on a lift.

2. Disconnect the negative plug from the storage battery.

3. Remove the rear driveshaft.

DRIVE SHAFTS, REPAIR WORKS, Cardan shaft - rear.

4. Release the clamps securing the crankcase ventilation hose to the body.

5. Support the final drive housing with a jack.



6. Remove and discard the 2 screws and 1 bolt and nut securing the final drive housing to the subframe.

7. Carefully lower the jack until the final drive with drive shafts rests on the lower control arms.

8. Rotate final drive housing 90o to gain access.



9. Fit the LRT-51-023/3 tool onto the LRT-51-023/5 tool. Screw on the nut and tighten it by hand.


10. Install tool LRT-51-023/1.

CAUTION: The slots must be directed away from the rubber bushing.

11. Fit the LRT-51-023/2 tool onto the LRT-51-023/1 tool, place the nut on the stem and hand-tighten.

12. Mark the mounting position of the rubber bushing relative to the mark on the subframe.

13. Remove the rubber bushing from the subframe.

14. Disassemble the tools and dispose of the rubber bushing.

Assembly

1. Clean the rubber bushing seat in the subframe and the mating surfaces.

2. Apply rubber lubricant to the new rubber bushing and to the inside of the seat.



3. Install a new rubber bushing in LRT-51-023/1.

4. Place tool LRT-51-023/4 into the slots of tool LRT-51-023/1 to fix the rubber bush.

5. Pass the rod of tool LRT-51-023-/5 through the socket in the subframe and screw it into LRT-51-023/4.

6. Install tool LRT-51-023/2 on tool LRT-51-023/5. Screw on the nut and tighten it by hand.

7. Install the rubber bushing into the subframe seat.

ATTENTION: The rubber bushing must be pressed flush with the surface of the final drive case attachment.

8. Remove and disassemble all attachments.


9. Install the jack and raise the final drive to the desired position.

10. Install new types of differential mounting to the subframe and tighten the screws with a torque of 100 Nm, and the new rear bolt and nut with a torque of 165 Nm.

11. Remove the jack from under the final drive housing.

12. Fix the ventilation hose of the crankcase of the main gear in the clamps on the body.

13. Install the rear driveshaft.

14. Attach the negative plug to the storage battery.
