Fixed rear door glass (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling

1. Remove glass of a back door.

2. Turn out 3 screws of fastening of a back overlay to a frame of a door and remove an overlay.

3. Remove the rear trim retainers from the door frame.



4. Remove the top decorative overlay of a door.



5. Remove the outer seal.


6. Remove the inner seal.



7. Remove the fixed glass outer trim.



8. Using a cutter, carefully cut through the seal between the glass and the door frame.

9. Remove the side fixed glass.

Assembly

1. Carefully remove any remaining sealant from the door frame to obtain a smooth surface.

2. Treatment of the removed glass: Carefully remove the remaining sealant to obtain a smooth surface without damaging the blackout tape.

3. Wipe the surfaces of the glass and door frame in contact with the seal with solvent.

4. Treat with a phosphoric acid etchant the areas of the door frame where bare metal shows through.

5. Apply primer to the etched areas of the body.

6. Install the pre-cut tip onto the caulk cartridge, remove the cap, shake the cartridge, and place it on the caulk gun. If necessary, change the shape of the tip to obtain the required section of the seal bead.




7. Apply a continuous bead of sealant to the door frame. Dimension 'A' = 7 mm. Dimension 'B' = 11 mm.

8. Install and center the glass in the door frame. Lightly press the glass for a tight connection with the seal.

9. Install glass overlay.

10. Install the inner door seal.

11. Install the outer door seal.

12. Establish the top overlay of a door.

13. Establish clips of a back overlay on a frame of a door.

14. Install and secure the rear door trim.

15. Establish glass of a back door.

16. Check the tightness of the seal. Apply additional sealant if necessary. If water is used for the leak test, allow the seal to dry before testing. Spray the periphery of the door glass with a jet of water and check if water is leaking into the passenger compartment. Mark the leaks. Dry the glass and sealant, then apply additional sealant.
