Removing

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Place secure stands under the vehicle.

2. Remove the transfer case. Refer to procedure: Power Transmission Unit - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Vehicle Included: 6-Speed Manual Transmission w/Drive Axle Assembly - M66 AWD (308-07B Transfer case, Removal and installation).

Be very careful not to damage the seal. Inspect the seal and replace if damaged

4. Special tool: 205-873/1, 205-873/3

Make sure the area around the part is clean and free of foreign particles. Be extremely careful not to damage the contact surfaces.

6. Special tool: 100-012

Installation

1. Special tool: 205-873/2

CAUTION: To avoid damage to the special tool and the formation of splinters, a soft-faced hammer should be used.

2. When installing, follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

3. Install the transfer case. Refer to procedure: Power Transmission Unit - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Vehicle Included: 6-Speed Manual Transmission w/Drive Axle Assembly - M66 AWD (308-07B Transfer case, Removal and installation).

4. Check the fluid level in the transfer case and top up if necessary. Refer to procedure: Checking the oil level in the transfer case (308-07B Transfer case, General procedures).
