The intake manifold is located on the left side of the engine and is attached to the cylinder head with seven bolts. The four lower helical swirl ports and the four upper feed ports are sealed against the cylinder head and camshaft cover by a shaped sealing ring. When installing the intake manifold, it is necessary to ensure that the O-rings fit correctly in the ports.
NOTE: A small amount of grease can be used to hold the O-rings in the intake manifold ports during intake manifold installation.
The intake manifold houses the electronic throttle assembly and port cutoff components. The port on the right side of the intake manifold is used to connect the EGR gas transfer tube. For more information, see the chapter:
