The high pressure fuel pump is mounted with three bolts to the right rear of the cylinder head and is driven by the exhaust camshaft. The pump housing consists of a flange and a cylindrical housing in which the pump drive shaft is located. The drive shaft housing protrudes into the cylinder head and is sealed with an O-ring.
A drive plate is mounted on the end of the drive shaft and is connected to the corresponding slot on the end of the exhaust camshaft.
In front of the high-pressure fuel pump, there is a shock-resistant shield that provides protection in the event of a frontal collision.
The fuel pump is a radial three piston pump that delivers fuel to the fuel rail and is controlled by the ECM. For more information, see the chapter:
