Four glow plugs are mounted on the bottom right side of the cylinder head, next to each volute intake port. Each glow plug is located in a drilled channel, its tip protrudes into the combustion chamber. The glow plugs are connected by a common wiring harness and are controlled by the ECM.
Glow plugs provide preheating of the combustion chamber before and during engine cranking, supporting the combustion process. Glow plugs play a vital role in starting the engine, as well as reducing emissions and cold engine noise. For more information, see the chapter:
