The cylinder head gasket is made of laminated metal in four different thicknesses. The protrusions on the side of the gasket are dot-marked to indicate the type of engine and the thickness of the gasket installed. A new gasket is selected taking into account the measured protrusion of the piston relative to the cylinder block.
