The 'L'-shaped cylinder head cover sits on top of the camshaft cover and houses the exhaust camshaft and the ports for driving the intake and exhaust camshafts. The gasket and o-rings of the PCV elements provide a seal between the two covers.
The cylinder head cover is made of composite materials, it houses the positive crankcase ventilation valve (PCV), safety valve and crankcase ventilation ports. For more information, see the chapter: Emissions reduction (303-08B Emission Control - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Description and Function).
The cylinder head cover houses the CMP sensor and three fasteners for the soundproof engine cover.
