The external controls for the automatic transmission are the selector lever assembly and the transmission cable. Using the selector lever, the driver selects forward and reverse gears, and can also engage the sport mode or manual mode "CommandShift™".
The driver receives confirmation that the selector lever has been moved: the corresponding LED lights up (LED) on the selector lever trim panel and a corresponding message appears on the message center screen on the instrument panel.
