Transmission oil pan (Freelander 2)

Removing

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Place secure stands under the vehicle.

2. Drain the fluid from the gearbox. Refer to Procedure: Draining and Refilling Transmission Fluid - 3.2L NA - I6 (307-01 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Transmission, General Procedures).

3. Remove the front subframe assembly. Refer to procedure: Front subframe (502-00 Uni-body, subframe and mounting system, Removal and installation).

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect leaking oil.

5. Remove the gasket.

Installation

1. For information on sealant specifications, refer to the specifications section. Refer to procedure: Specifications (307-01 Automatic transmission / transaxle transaxle, Specifications).

2. Apply sealant in a 3 mm diameter bead to the area shown.



3. Install the transmission fluid case and tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern. Tightening torque: 14 Nm

4. Install the front subframe. Refer to procedure: Front subframe (502-00 Uni-body, subframe and mounting system, Removal and installation).

5. Fill the gearbox with transmission fluid. Refer to Procedure: Draining and Refilling Transmission Fluid - 3.2L NA - I6 (307-01 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Transmission, General Procedures).
