Selector shaft seal (Freelander 2)

NOTE: The description of the removal procedure may contain a description of the installation steps.

Removing

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Place secure stands under the vehicle.

2. Remove the cover and disconnect the ground wire from the battery. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging system - General information, Specifications).

3. Remove the transmission control module (TCM). Refer to procedure: Transmission Control Module (TCM) - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (307-01 Automatic transmission / transaxle, Removal and installation).

Be very careful not to damage the mating surfaces. Install a new item.

Installation

1. When installing, follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

Clean mating surfaces of foreign material. Install the seal flush with the gearbox housing.
