The CAN bus allows fast data exchange between modules. The CAN bus consists of two wires, which are designated CAN high (H) and CAN low (L). Wires are color coded: black/yellow (CAN H) and tan (CAN L). The wires are twisted to reduce radio interference that occurs when data is transmitted over the CAN bus. For more information, please refer to the chapter: Communication Network (418-00 Communication network of modules, Description and principle of operation).
A CAN bus failure may be accompanied by the following symptoms:
- Transmission goes into default mode (emergency mode)
- Disables torque converter clutch control
- The current gear indicator on the LCD display of the information center stops working (this happens with any transmission failure)
