- Always ensure that the component being inspected is free of oil and grease.
- If it is necessary to measure the dimensions of a part in order to compare its dimensions with the allowable dimensions, then an appropriate measuring tool should be used (Johanson tiles, micrometers, dial gauges).
- Before use, make sure that the measuring tool and fixtures are calibrated.
- If the dimensions of the part are outside the limit values or the part shows signs of damage, then it is subject to rejection.
- A part is considered fit for reinstallation if its dimensions are within the maximum specified tolerances and it does not show signs of damage.
- To measure the clearance in plain bearings, use tape where necessary "Plastigauge".
