Special tools
The table of special tools, which is provided before each procedure, lists the special tools required to carry out repairs in accordance with this procedure. Where possible, illustrations are also provided to help technicians select the appropriate special tools and understand how they work.
Special tools can be ordered from their manufacturer, SPX Tools. Representative addresses can be found in the Special Tools Glossary.
Important Precautions
The use of proper maintenance practices and the correct execution of repair procedures are important both for the safe, reliable operation of the vehicle itself and for the personal safety of the mechanic performing the specific job.
This manual cannot fully cover all options and provide recommendations and cautions for each of them. Anyone who intends to deviate from the instructions prescribed by this manual must understand that neither personal safety nor the vehicle itself can be sacrificed. And based on this, you need to choose the necessary methods, tools and spare parts.
Individuals who carry out repairs themselves must have the appropriate skills or training. In addition, such persons should limit themselves to repairing those parts that do not affect the safety of the car and passengers.
Any repairs to safety critical systems such as the steering, brakes, suspension and Supplemental Restraint System should only be performed by a Land Rover Dealer. Untrained persons SHOULD NOT attempt to repair these systems.
As you read this manual, you will come across WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, and NOTES. If a warning, caution or note refers to a series of items, it is given at the beginning of the sequence. If it refers to only one item, it precedes that item (located after the item number).

Troubleshooting Equipment
The vehicle is equipped with a number of electronic control systems to ensure optimal operation of vehicle systems.
The diagnostic equipment recommended by Land Rover is commercially available and is mandatory for use in these cases. The use of this equipment enhances the diagnostic capabilities of the dealer's repair shop. In particular, this equipment can be used to interrogate electronic systems in order to diagnose problems that may occur during the life of the vehicle.
This manual is intended to be used as an additional reference for diagnostic equipment recommended by Land Rover.
The equipment features are listed below:
- Full upgrade support by a technician
- Structured diagnostics covering all skill levels
- Ability to print information and test results directly from the screen
Vehicle check
The operations described in this manual do not contain references to checking the vehicle after repair. After the repair work is completed, it is important to inspect their quality and carry out an inspection and, if necessary, a road test, especially when it comes to systems that affect safety.
Repair and spare parts
Land Rover parts are manufactured to the exact same standards as original factory installed parts. That's why it's important to use only Genuine Land Rover Parts when carrying out maintenance or repairs.
Particular attention should be paid to the following points related to the repair and installation of spare parts and accessories.
The use of any replacement parts other than those recommended by Land Rover may adversely affect vehicle safety and corrosion protection. In some countries, legislation prohibits the installation on a vehicle of parts that do not meet the manufacturer's specifications. Tightening torques should be adhered to where specified and locking devices should be used where necessary. If, when removing the blocking device, the effectiveness of its operation was impaired, then the device should be replaced.
Vehicle owners who purchase accessories while traveling overseas should ensure that the accessories and where they are installed on the vehicle comply with legal requirements.
Fitting parts other than those recommended by Land Rover to your vehicle may void your vehicle warranty.
NOTE: The installation of parts and accessories other than those approved by Land Rover, or unauthorized modifications or conversions, may be hazardous. Any of the above actions may adversely affect the safety of the vehicle, the driver and passengers, as well as void the warranty on the vehicle.
All Land Rover recommended parts are fully covered by the vehicle warranty. Land Rover Dealers are required to supply only those parts recommended by Land Rover.
