Keep electrical equipment in good working order. Do frequent checks. Faulty equipment must be properly marked; it is advisable not to store it in the work area.
Check flexible cords, cables, plugs and sockets (nests) for chafing, kinking, cuts, cracks or other damage. When using equipment with a cable on a reel, ALWAYS unwind the cable completely from the reel.
Keep electrical equipment and flexible electrical cords away from water. Electrical equipment must be protected by fuses with appropriate ratings.
Never misuse electrical equipment and never use electrical equipment that is in any way defective. Failure to follow this rule may result in a fatal accident.
Do not pinch or damage the cables of mobile electrical equipment, such as those used on lifts, etc.
Workers working with electrical equipment should be trained in basic first aid.
In case of electric shock:
- Switch off the power supply before approaching the victim.
- If this is not possible, DO NOT CLOSE TO THE INJURED, but try to push or pull it away from the power source with a dry, non-conductive material.
- Provide first aid if you know how to do it.
- SEEK MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IMMEDIATELY.
