Make sure that the remote control is in the original socket while the vehicle is being towed. Removing the remote control from the socket locks the steering column lock, preventing the vehicle from being steered properly.
If the engine is not running while the vehicle is being towed, then the power steering and brake booster are not working. As a result, you will have to apply increased efforts to steering or braking, which will significantly increase the braking distance.
The vehicle should only be towed with all four wheels on the ground. Towing with two wheels on the ground causes serious damage to the transmission.
Towing is allowed for a distance of no more than 80 km at a speed of no more than 80 km/h. Towing longer distances or at higher speeds can cause serious damage to the transmission.
NOTE: The recommended method of evacuation is to raise all four wheels.
Towing procedure
1. The vehicle must be parked on a firm surface with the parking brake engaged and the selector in P (parking), if the car is equipped with automatic transmission.
2. Attach the tow hitch to the front towing eye of the vehicle being towed.
CAUTION: Leaving the ignition on for an extended period will drain the battery.
3. Insert the remote control into the socket and turn on the ignition.
4. Depress the brake pedal and place the lever in neutral position.
5. Without releasing the brake pedal, release the parking brake.
6. Towing is allowed for a distance of not more than 80 km at a speed not exceeding 80 km/h.
7. When you arrive at your destination, make sure that the vehicle is parked on a firm surface, if possible.
8. Apply the parking brake and move the selector to position P (parking).
9. Switch off the ignition and remove the remote control from the socket.
WARNING: Take extra care when disconnecting towing equipment. The vehicle may begin to move, resulting in serious injury.
10. Detach the towing hitch from the towing eye.
Mounting eyes
Use only the front and rear lashing eyes, DO NOT hook the lashings or slings to any other part of the vehicle.
Use only the front and rear lashing eyes to secure the vehicle during transport.
The front and rear mounting lugs are shown in the figure.
Trailer transport
WARNING: Use only the front and rear lashing eyes, DO NOT hook the lashings or slings to any other part of the vehicle.
With the vehicle in place, apply the parking brake and move the lever to the 'N' - Neutral position. The recommended method of evacuation/transportation of the vehicle is a tow truck or a trailer designed for this purpose.
