Overview of control modules (Freelander 2)

The vehicle's electrical system includes a plurality of control modules interconnected via multiple networked systems.

The following network systems are used on the vehicle:

• High speed CAN bus (Controller Area Network)
• Medium speed CAN bus
• LIN bus (Local Interconnect Network)
• MOST system (Media Orientated Systems Transport)

CJB is "gateway" for network systems, allowing the exchange of information between networks.

The entertainment system elements are connected to the MOST fiber optic system. The MOST system can send information to and receive information from other network systems via "gateway" in the integrated control module.

The following table shows each vehicle control module, the electrical network to which it is connected, its function and location in the vehicle.

Right front seat heating module	LIN	Used by ATC to control seat heating temperature	Underside of the seat
Left front seat heating module	LIN	Used by ATC to control seat heating temperature	Underside of the seat
Air quality sensor	LIN	Controls the air quality in the car	Installed on the heater assembly
damper actuator module 1	LIN	Moves the flaps in the heater to direct airflow to different parts of the cabin	Part of the heater assembly

Siren with battery backup	LIN	CJB is activated when an alarm signal is received	Installed in a central position between the bulkheads in the engine compartment
Electric steering column lock	LIN	Controls locking and unlocking the steering column	On the underside of the steering column, under the lower column cover

Volumetric sensor	LIN	Detects motion inside the vehicle and activates the anti-theft alarm system	In the housing in the center of the headlining

Amplifier/Tuner	MOST	Provides amplification for entertainment systems and radio reception	Installed on the right side of the luggage compartment
Navigation system computer	MOST	Reads DVD map data to calculate and display route guidance visual information using TAD and audio guidance through the amplifier to the driver.	Below the IHU in the center console
