The air distribution and filtration system manages the distribution and improves the quality of the air entering the front and rear of the cabin. The main elements of the heating and ventilation system are:
- air ducts
- Adjustable and non-adjustable deflectors
- Cabin air filter
Air ducts
Air from the heater is ducted to various vents in the instrument panel and to the rear of the vehicle.
The air supply duct at face level/to the side windows and the air duct for windshield defrost form part of the instrument panel assembly.
The air duct of each front footwell is fixed on the side of the heater and attached to the passenger compartment cross member with one screw. The air ducts of the front footwells also serve as the location for the footwell lamps.
The rear air ducts of the cabin are also fixed in the heater. Each duct runs under the floor covering and is attached to the vehicle floor with a single screw located below the front seat.
Adjustable and non-adjustable vents
Adjustable deflectors allow passengers to adjust the flow and direction of air coming from the air ducts. There are four adjustable air deflectors on the instrument panel; one is installed at each end of the instrument panel and two are installed in the center.
Non-adjustable deflectors are ducts with a fixed outlet. There are four non-adjustable air deflectors on the instrument panel; one is installed at each end of the instrument panel and two are installed along the top edge, below the windshield.
Cabin air filter
The cabin air filter is located on the right behind the instrument panel and is housed in the heater. The filter removes odors and small particles, including pollen, from the air entering the heater.
