Display mode 0
This mode is entered when the ignition is turned off and the CAN bus network enters standby mode. Conventions or symbols are not displayed in this mode. Exit from the mode occurs when power mode 6 is activated (ignition on) or the driver enters the 'information' mode as configured by the customer.
Display mode 1
This mode is entered when power mode 6 is activated for the first time. The full screen message 'SYSTEM CHECK IN PROGRESS' is displayed for approximately three seconds (SYSTEM CHECK IN PROGRESS), when the instrument panel is running an internal diagnostic program. After the 3 second period, display mode 2 becomes active. If the ignition is turned off within the 3 second period, the message center reverts to display mode 0.
Display mode 2
This is the normal operating mode of the message center. It automatically becomes active after display mode 1.
Display mode 3
This mode is entered by pressing the trip computer button while the message center is in display mode 2. The trip computer information will be displayed for 20 seconds, after which the display will revert back to display mode 2.
Display mode 4
This mode is automatically entered if the message center receives a warning or status message from the CJB. The entire screen is used to display the warning/status message, overriding the display of outdoor temperature information (display mode 2) and from the trip computer (display mode 3). Warning messages are displayed for three seconds, after which the display returns to the previous display mode (2 or 3). Status messages will not go out until the condition is corrected, such as adding washer fluid to the windshield washer reservoir to clear the message. 'LOW WASHER FLUID' (WASHER LEVEL LOW). If more than one status message is present, the screen will scroll through each message at three second intervals.
All current warning/status messages scroll at three second intervals when the vehicle enters power mode 6 for the first time and when the ignition is turned off. They are displayed in order of priority, with the most important message displayed first.
Display mode 5
Display mode 5 is entered when the Terrain Response system is selected. This mode has three formats. Format 5A displays the same information as display mode 3 with the addition of the Terrain Response icon in the upper left corner of the screen and the steering wheel direction icon displayed at the top center of the screen.
Depending on the Terrain Response CAN·message received from the CJB, the screen enters either 5B display mode or 5C display mode. When in 5B display mode the entire screen is used to display the Terrain Response message, the information shown in 5A mode is overlaid.
If the screen adopts the 5C display mode, the top third of the screen will show icons of all Terrain Response options. The bottom two-thirds of the screen will display Terrain Response messages.
The instrument cluster provides feedback to the Terrain Response control module that the appropriate Terrain Response information is being displayed. Terrain Response messages for all three display mode 5 formats, however, may be overridden if the message center receives a higher priority warning/status message. If the message center is unable to display Terrain Response messages due to this event, the instrument cluster changes the value of the feedback signal to the control module from 1 to 0.
Display mode 7
Display mode 7 is a diagnostic mode and can only be accessed using a Land Rover approved diagnostic system. The diagnostic program can be found in the option " 413-00 Illumination of the shield and instrument panel" ('413-00 Instrument Pack and Panel Illumination') on the menu "Content" ('Content Model').
When in display mode 7, 4 different patterns are displayed to check that all areas of the LCD are working.
