Depending on the vehicle equipment, three levels of outdoor lighting systems are offered:
- Halogen headlights
- Bi-xenon high discharge headlights (HID)
- Adaptive front lighting system (AFS) with bi-xenon
The lighting switch module is located on the instrument panel, with its help the driver selects the appropriate mode of operation of the external lighting systems.
The rear light units include position lights, brake lights, reversing lights, direction indicators, and rear fog lights. In vehicles destined for the North American market (NAS), the rear light unit also includes a side marker light. The rear light assembly must be removed to replace the bulb. There are two reflectors on the rear bumper.
In all versions, the headlights are equipped with impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses. Removable covers at the rear of the headlights are used to replace bulbs. To replace the bulb, the headlamp module must be removed.
The halogen headlights are equipped with large reflectors with a complex surface for optimum orientation of the headlight beams (only passing light). The high beam reflector is located on the inside of the headlight. The tilt of the light beams in the halogen headlights is adjusted manually using a handwheel located in the light switch module; the handwheel controls the tilt motors located in the headlight modules.
Bifunctional HID headlights and AFS headlights use a D1S xenon projector unit that operates in low beam and high beam modes. The additional high beam reflector of the halogen lamp is located on the inside of the headlamp. The tilt of the light beams in HID headlights is adjusted automatically. The front and rear height sensors are located on the left side of the front and rear axles. They measure the height of the vehicle, and the headlight range control module, located on the bulkhead of the engine compartment near the pillar "A" behind the glove compartment, automatically adjusts the headlights vertically.
HID headlights are equipped with a power headlamp washer as standard.
The multi-function switch located on the left side of the steering column controls the direction indicators, high beam and low beam. The direction indicators have a lane change function. Pressing the multi-function switch once turns on the turn signal and flashes 3 times.
The external lighting system is controlled by the CJB. The CJB is the vehicle's main body control module and is located on the instrument panel, behind the glove compartment.
The central switching unit provides protection for all outdoor lighting circuits.
