- Enabled program icon permanently displayed on dashboard message center screen
- The Terrain Response control unit blocks certain functions in some programs, for example:
- the cruise control function is only available when the special programs are off or when the Grass/Gravel/Snow program is on ("Grass/gravel/snow")
- the sport mode of the gearbox is switched off in all special programs.
- If the ignition has been turned off for more than 6 hours, the Terrain Response system switches to the special programs off mode ("Special Programs off").
Selecting a program that does not match the road conditions does not pose a danger to the driver and cannot harm the vehicle. Prolonged operation of the vehicle with an incorrectly selected program may lead to a reduction in the service life of some elements. The driver may notice a change in vehicle dynamics due to poorer engine and transmission response compared to when the special programs are off. In addition, in some programs, HDC mode is constantly on, as indicated by the illuminated HDC indicator on the instrument panel. The driver may also notice an increase in torque in the active clutch causing a braking effect when maneuvering using special programs.
Information for the driver
The high-level instrument panel, fitted to vehicles with Terrain Response, is equipped with a message center that provides the driver with information about the vehicle that the driver needs. The message center contains Terrain Response program icons that display the current program. If no symbol appears on the display, it means that no special programs have been selected and the system is in the special programs off mode ("Special Programs off").
Necessary changes to subsystem settings are also communicated to the driver by illuminating indicators on the instrument panel or appropriate messages in the message center (For example, "HDC OFF" (HDC off.)).
In certain driving situations, the Terrain Response system also displays tips or warnings to help the driver get the most out of the vehicle, such as steering angle displayed on the information panel to prevent deep ruts with the steering column lock engaged.
