Removal and installation of a steering wheel (Freelander 2)

Removing

1. Place the SRS system in safe mode. Refer to procedure: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering (501-20, General procedures).

2. Remove the driver's airbag module. Refer to Procedure: Driver Airbag Module (501-20B Secondary restraint system, Removal and installation).

3. Tightening torque: 48 Nm



4. Remove the two Torx screws. Disconnect the electrical connector.

CAUTION: Protect surrounding finish to avoid damage.

NOTE: Do not proceed with further disassembly if the element is removed only for access.

5. Remove the two Torx screws. Disconnect the electrical connector.

CAUTION: Protect surrounding finish to avoid damage.

6. Remove the steering column control switch wiring harness.

Installation

1. Install the steering wheel cover.

2. Install the wiring harness.

3. Install the cruise control switch.

4. Install the horn switch.

5. Install the steering wheel.

6. Install the driver's airbag module. Refer to Procedure: Driver Airbag Module (501-20B Secondary restraint system, Removal and installation).
