Removing

1. Raise the car on a lift.

WARNING: Place secure stands under the vehicle.

2. Remove the differential drive flange. Refer to procedure: Pinion protrusion (205-02 Rear drive axle / differential, Removal and installation).

3. Carefully remove and discard the gear oil seal. Special tool: 308-529, 100-012

Installation

1. Lubricate the gland. Refer to procedure: Specifications (205-02 Rear Drive Axle/Differential, Specifications).

CAUTION: Lubricate o-rings only with prescribed materials.

2. Using the special tool, install a new oil seal. Special tool: 205-862-1



3. Insert the seal so that the top of the collar is pressed against the body of the active coupling.

4. Install differential drive flange. Refer to procedure: Pinion protrusion (205-02 Rear drive axle / differential, Removal and installation).

5. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Procedure: Exhaust System (309-00B Exhaust system - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and installation).
