NOTE: This procedure must be performed if new parking brake pads, new rear brake discs have been installed, or if the vehicle has been driven through deep mud (not in water) over 80 km.
1. Perform the parking brake shoe break-in procedure.
2. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Procedure: Parking Brake Cable Adjustment (206-05 Parking Brake and Parking Brake Actuator, General Procedures).
3. Perform the parking brake shoe break-in procedure.
4. Using a dynamometer: Apply the parking brake lever for about 40 seconds until a brake force reading of 800 Nm is reached.
5. Perform the parking brake shoe break-in procedure.
6. During a road test: While driving at approximately 40 km/h, apply the parking brake lever until you feel the braking force. Tighten the parking brake lever one more notch and drive 400 m.
WARNING: If possible, all road tests should be carried out on a flat, dry surface. Be sure to obey speed limits and local traffic regulations.
7. Adjust the parking brake.
