Each axle shaft consists of a one-piece steel shaft with internal and external hinges of equal angular velocities. Internal hinge "tripoid" spherical bushing type to reduce slip resistance; the shaft and the inner joint are a single unit.

The external ball-type joint is splined to the shaft. The hinges are packed with grease and protected by covers.

The axle shafts are of equal length to eliminate steering wheel reactions when making a turn.
