To confirm that the DSC function has been deactivated, the DSC deactivation indicator lamp on the instrument panel lights up permanently. On vehicles equipped with an instrument panel "high series", to confirm disabling DSC, a message is also displayed in the message center.
For more information, see the chapter:
- instrument panel (413-01 Instrument panel, Description and function)
- Information and message center (413-08 Information and Message Centre, Description and Operation)
When the DSC function is activated, the DSC indicator lamp goes out.
While Land Rover recommends disabling DSC under all normal driving conditions, it may be beneficial to disable DSC to increase traction under the following conditions:
- Rocking the car to get out of a pothole or a loose section of road.
- When driving on loose ground or with snow chains fitted.
- When driving in deep sand, snow or mud.
- When driving on a track with deep longitudinal crevices.
Even when DSC is disabled, harsh yaw or lateral acceleration maneuvers may trigger RSC action to help maintain vehicle stability.
To avoid misuse or failure of the DSC switch, if the input signal from the DSC switch is held high for more than 1 minute, a DTC will be generated in the ABS module memory (DTC).
