ABS and Dynamic Stability Control are equipped with a Continental Teves Mk25E1 module with an integrated 4-channel HCU. The ABS module with HCU is located in the rear left side of the engine compartment and is installed in the brake hydraulic circuit, between the brake master cylinder and the four brake calipers.
ABS module connected to high speed CAN bus (Controller Area Network) and actively interacts with other electrical modules of the car and related sensors, receiving and transmitting information about the current operation of the car.
If necessary, the ABS module actively intervenes and activates the HCU during braking or maneuvering, adjusting the vehicle's height, directional stability, traction or vehicle speed. If a significant adjustment is required, the ABS module sends to the engine control module (ECM) a request to reduce engine power to further stabilize and correct the behavior of the vehicle.
To provide full functionality, ABS and DSC systems include the following elements:
- DSC switch
- HDC switch
- Speed sensors for four wheels
- Sensor block
- Steering angle sensor
- Control lamps of a board of devices
- ABS module with HCU
The ABS system also provides braking functions that are designed to help the vehicle move or assist the driver. The following functions are described in detail in the Operation Principle section:
- Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
- Corner braking system (CBC)
- Vehicle Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
- Electronic brake force distribution (EBD)
- Electronic traction control (ETC)
- Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)
- Motor braking torque control (EDC)
- HDC (with hill start function)
- roll control (RSC)
- Terrain Response™ System Integration
All of the braking functions listed, with the exception of Descent Control, are automatically activated when the vehicle is in mode 6 (ignition on) and the engine is running.
