The windshield wiper motor drives a gear through a worm gear connected to the motor output shaft. The gear has a central hub that serves to connect to the crank gear. The crank is attached directly to the windshield wiper linkages and secured with a single nut. The motor assembly and the wiper linkage are one piece and must be removed or replaced as a unit.
For more information, refer to the chapter: Windshield Wiper Motor (501-16 Windshield wipers and washers, Removal and installation).
The motor assembly is connected to the vehicle's electrical wiring via a 4-pin electrical connector. The electrical connector has two battery power contacts from BJB, a wiper park position contact from CJB, and a ground for the motor assembly.
