- High speed CAN·messages from RCM (driver and passenger protection control unit) to monitor the condition of the front seat belts.
- Input signal from the passenger presence sensor in the front seat.
When the ignition is turned on, the instrument panel illuminates the seat belt warning light and remains on until one of the front seat belts is fastened or the seat belt reminder system is activated. The seat belt reminder function is activated when the ignition key is in auxiliary/power mode and the following conditions exist at the same time:
- The seat belt warning function is enabled
- Reverse gear not engaged
- Vehicle speed not less than 8 km/h
- Driver's or front passenger's belt (if the front passenger seat is occupied) not fastened
When the reminder function is activated, the instrument panel gives the following warnings for 10 seconds.
- The seat belt warning lamp flashes (with a frequency of 2 Hz)
- The sound of the gong is synchronized with the flashing of the warning indicator
After 10 seconds, the sound of the gong stops, and the flashing of the signaling device is replaced by its constant burning for 20 seconds. As long as all conditions for activating the reminder function exist, the warning will repeat every 30 seconds unless one of the following events occurs:
- 5 minutes have passed since the first warning was given
- Seat belts fastened in all occupied front seats
- Ignition in position 0
- The speed of movement drops to 5 km / h
For vehicles other than the US and Canada, the reminder function can be enabled or disabled using the sensor in the driver's seat buckle. The instrument panel changes the status of the function if, within 60 seconds after the first transition to ignition mode II, the driver's belt is fastened and unfastened nine times. Successful change of the status of the reminder function is confirmed by a single chime and five flashes of the belt indicator with an interval of 2 seconds. The seat belt reminder can also be turned on and off using the Land Rover approved diagnostic tool.
