Underbody sealant (Freelander 2)

The bottom surface and the front part of the spare wheel well are treated with Plastisol PVC underbody sealant. This material is not suitable for reprocessing. During repair operations, remove the factory coating of the bottom in the damaged area to bare metal. Make sure there that the area to be treated is metallically clean and that the edges of the existing sealing coat are firmly bonded to the panel.

Apply a new coat of underbody sealant after applying the primer coat but before applying the paint. Apply seam sealant before applying bottom sealant. Ensure that all plugs and rubber stoppers in the floor panel (except for plugs covering holes for sealing treatment) were installed in place prior to applying the underbody sealant. Using a heat gun, restore all heat-set plugs, or replace them with rubber stoppers.

CAUTION: Before applying new sealant to the underside of the vehicle, cover all suspension components, wheels, tires, powertrain, drive shafts, driveshafts, exhaust system, and brakes (including all attachment points).
