NOTE: The rear light mounting panel is serviced as a separate welded panel.
NOTE: NVH elements are attached to the old panel, they are not serviced on the new panel. If damaged, new elements will be required.
Removing
1. In conjunction with the rear light mounting panel, replaces:
- rear bumper cover
- Rear bumper reinforcement
2. For more information regarding this repair procedure, see: For more information, refer to the chapter: Body and frame (501-26 Body Repairs - Vehicle Special Information and Approval Checks, Description and Operation) / Standard techniques used at the service station (100-00 General information, Description and principle of operation).
3. Remove the rear bumper. For more information, see chapter: Rear bumper (501-19 Bumpers, Removal and installation).
4. Disconnect both wires from the battery.
5. Remove the pillar trim panel "D". For more information, see chapter: 'D' Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior trim, Removal and installation).
6. Remove the rear wheel and tire assembly.
7. Remove the rear side panel window molding.
8. Remove the luggage compartment trim panel.
9. Remove the exhaust grille.
10. Loosen the insulation material and place it aside.
11. Release and place aside a plait of electroconducting.
12. Use a belt sander to grind down the weld spots in the area shown.
13. Mill out the remaining weld points.
14. Separate the connections and remove the old panel, also disconnect the NVH elements.
Installation
1. Prepare the connecting surfaces of the old and new panel, including the sections of the rear light mounting panels.
2. Drill holes in the new panel for MIG welding.
3. Attach the new panel and lock it in place. Check the reconciliation, if correct, go to the next step, if not, correct and check again before proceeding to the next step.
4. Remove the new panel.
5. Apply adhesive to the areas shown.
6. Replace NVH elements if necessary.
7. Apply sealing adhesive to the NVH elements.
8. Attach the new panel and lock it in place.
9. Spot weld.
10. Welding with electric MIG rivets.
11. Clean all welds.
12. Reverse the removal procedure to install the appropriate panels and mechanicals.
