Removing
1. Remove the rear window wiper motor. Refer to Procedure: Rear Wiper Motor (501-16 Windshield wipers and washers, Removal and installation).
2. Disconnect electric sockets of heating of back glass.
3. Pass the glazing wire through the glass.
4. Use glazing wire to cut sealant.
WARNING: Use protective gloves and goggles.
CAUTION: Protect surrounding paintwork to avoid damage.
Installation
1. Apply pickling primer to all exposed metal.
2. Apply primer to pickling primer.
3. Apply glass primer to the tailgate glass sealant surface and allow it to cure.
4. Apply an activating compound to the old tailgate glass sealant and allow it to cure.
5. Place the prepared cut tip on the caulk cartridge, remove the cap, shake out the solids and install the cartridge on the caulk gun.
6. Adjust the nozzle in such a way that a bead of sealant is obtained with a regular triangle in cross section, having a base of 8 mm and a height of 12 mm.
7. Apply a continuous bead of sealant to the glass.
8. Install glass with assistance.
9. Apply light pressure to the window glass to press it against the sealant.
10. Secure the rear side window glass in place with adhesive tape.
11. Check the tightness of the connection, apply additional sealant if necessary. If water is used for testing, do not test until the sealant has dried. Point the water jet at the glass and check for leaks. Mark the location of the leaks. Dry the glass and sealant, then apply additional sealant.
12. Dock electric sockets of heating of back glass.
13. Install the rear window wiper motor. Refer to Procedure: Rear Wiper Motor (501-16 Windshield wipers and washers, Removal and installation).
