Lifting tailgate alignment (Freelander 2)

1. With the tailgate closed, check the fit of the tailgate to the roof panel and body side panel. The tailgate must be centered in the opening. Refer to Procedure: Body and Frame (501-26 Body Repairs - Vehicle Special Information and Approval Checks, Description and Operation).



2. Remove rack trim panels "D". Refer to Procedure: 'D' Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior trim, Removal and installation).

3. Release an upholstery of a back part of a roof.



4. Loosen but do not completely remove the bolts holding the tailgate hinge.



5. Position the tailgate in the center of the opening.

6. Tighten the tailgate hinge bolts. Tightening torque: 24 Nm

7. Check the operation of the tailgate and, if necessary, adjust the tailgate latch. Refer to procedure: Latch Striker Adjustment (501-14 Handles, locks, latches and entry systems, General procedures).

8. Establish an upholstery of a back part of a roof.

9. Install rack trim panels "D". Refer to Procedure: 'D' Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior trim, Removal and installation).
